It’s only been a few months since the release of the Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere 360 camera, but a new version of it is already about to be released! It will be launched under its own brand by MadV360 and will be called Madventure 360. Here are the specifications and details, and how to win one from Veer.tv!
Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere emerged from nowhere and upended the 360 camera industry with its amazing image quality, low price, and the industry’s first built-in stabilization. Even now, it is still the best 360 consumer camera for photos and among the best 360 cameras for videos.
But now there will be a new version of the Mi Sphere. It’s the one you see in the opening shot above — the one that looks like a orange Mi Sphere.

Madventure 360 features and specifications
Here are the specs, with differences from the Mi Sphere in bold
– fully spherical field of view
– photo resolution: 6912 x 3456
– video resolution: increased to 3840 x 1920 (unconfirmed: 4096 x 2048 on some phones)
– orange instead of black
– included accessories: USB table, mini tripod, case, invisible selfie stick, mounting adapter (1/4-20 to GoPro adapter).
– “bullet time” type effect (unconfirmed)
– “free capture” type effect (unconfirmed)
– price: up to $100 more than the Mi Sphere
– other specs, such as the 6-axis image stabilization and IP67 water and dust resistance, are the same as for the Mi Sphere.
Do these specifications and features look familiar? To me they are very similar to the features of the Insta360 ONE. If that is indeed the case, what extra benefit would the Madventure 360 be offering? Recall that in my Insta360 ONE review, I found that the Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere had much better optics than the Insta360 ONE. It trounced the ONE for photo (even though they both had 24mp) but for video, the Mi Sphere was only on par with the ONE despite its better optics. The limiting factor was the Mi Sphere’s lower video resolution of 3456 x 1728 versus the ONE’s 3840 x 1920. If the Madventure has the same optics as the Mi Sphere but higher video resolution, then it seems that it may have high video quality that could surpass the Insta360 ONE and possibly other 360 cameras such as the Theta V. We’ll have to wait and see.

Comparison with Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere
According to Jason Wang, who leads the Madv team, the Madventure 360 has identical hardware inside, and the change is primarily for marketing purposes (to sell the camera to regions that are not available to Xiaomi).
In other words, the improvements in the Madventure 360 camera are also coming to the Mi Sphere. So current Mi Sphere owners don’t have to worry about being abandoned.
