UPDATE: The Theta Z1 is real, not a hoax. Here is my preview of the Theta Z1.
Nokishita Camera, a camera rumor site, has posted supposed photos and specifications of a new version of the Ricoh Theta called the Theta Z1. Nokishita rated the rumor reliability as “B”.
According to the specifications posted by Nokishita, the Theta Z1 will supposedly have a 1-inch sensor, which would be incredible if it is true given the relatively slim profile of the posted photos. Nokishita also claims that the lens will have a variable aperture. To date, no consumer 360 camera has had a 1-inch sensor nor a variable aperture.
I’m going to look for more information to determine whether this is true. In the meantime, you can check out Nokishita Camera’s post here.
Hi Mic
There’s me thinking that you or Ben have been testing this camera since Christmas and due to a NDA, have been professionally quiet as usual till tomorrow your time, or now, My and Ben’s time.
Look forward to your review whenever, as I and so many value and rely on your unbiased reviews or opinion.
If 19GB onboard is true, that will be a setback but the rest of the Spec looks promising, if correct.
I’m, baffled why they’d put a 1″ sensor in a camera like this and only record video at 3840×1920 30p 4K resolution. I hope that spec is wrong and they can do video at 6K or better, otherwise this is a *huge* missed opportunity (assuming it’s even real).
Support microSD card?
Sorry no it does not. See the full specs and analysis here: https://360rumors.com/2019/02/ricoh-theta-z1.html
I hope this was a typo.
