Rylo adds zoom and speedramping effects; Windows app not coming anytime soon

Rylo has updated its smartphone apps and Mac desktop app to add two new features: Zoom and Speed (speed ramping):

Here is another video about the zoom feature

Rylo (reviewed here) is a 5.8K 360 camera that became well known for its amazing stabilization, and has one of the best video quality among consumer 360 cameras.  The only thing that’s holding it back (imho) is its lack of a desktop app for Windows, which is no longer on the near term roadmap:

Don't wait for a Rylo Windows app anytime soon
Don’t wait for a Rylo Windows app anytime soon

If anyone from Rylo is reading this, FYI guys, a Windows app with batch export is much more important than adding features that are available on many 360 video editors.

  • A very strange strategy from Rylo.
This camera is actually well suitable only by MAC/IOS users.

      • I have been asking Rylo for months to add a Windows Editor to no avail. It looks like I may have to switch to the more progressive Insta360 one X. It is a shame that they fail to be competitive. I guess the Facebook crowd, etc. is their only market. With an insta360 a 5.7k mp4 can be made eclipsing Rylo’s 4K, albeit they have a 5.8K output which is gone to waste. You cannot compare the processing power of a computer to a Mickey Mouse phone. Also, why add features to Rylo that can be done by any good windows software editor.

        2. Someone decided it was a good idea to ignore 80% of their potential market…???

I am sending this comment to Rylo.

        Rylo’s reply:

While we had initially planned to bring Rylo to Windows in Q1, we’ve decided to focus our development efforts on other features and product offerings. We apologize for the sudden change in expectation, but we didn’t want to state that the Windows app was ‘coming soon’ when this no longer aligned with our roadmap.

With that said, we continually re-evaluate our product and feature prioritization, so this decision may change in the future.

    • I contacted them also. Received exact same response. One of the only reasons i purchased the rylo was to be able to edit on my windows based computer.. going to put mine on ebay and wish the next owner good luck…
