There are two new 3D video samples from the Qoocam EGO. Here’s how to view them on Oculus Quest and a list of improvements.
Qoocam EGO is a new 3D camera that lets you capture immersive videos for viewing on a VR headset or 3D display. The first samples looked very detailed for a consumer 3D camera but they were missing YouTube 3D metadata. The new sample videos are in 3840 x 1080 60fps (1920 x 1080 per eye) side-by-side with the correct YouTube 3D metadata, which makes them easier to view.
To view the videos on an Oculus Quest headset, simply use the YouTube VR app (available for free on the Oculus store). Look for KandaoVR YouTube channel and you’ll see the new videos. Because the new videos have the correct metadata, YouTube VR will automatically play them in 3D. There is no need for the user to select “3D” or “side by side.”
Here is the updated playlist with the new videos:
The synchronization on these samples seems spot-on. Here is a wiggle animation from a frame grab. Please note that I adjusted the stereo window on this sample.
Here is another cropped frame grab that shows that the left and right eye are perfectly in sync:

Kandao has authorized me to post a link to download the samples here.
Wasn’t this supposed to be released in March?
Is it still a thing?
Could Qoocam EGO be used as a general 3D player for other 3D movie? Thanks!
Yes it can! 😀 I was able to watch my review video in the Qoocam EGO in 3D. It actually looks excellent — very detailed, and with much more shadow detail than is visible on the YouTube VR version of my video. The only downside is that I couldn’t adjust the volume and it was very loud.
