How would you like to capture HDR video with amazing dynamic range and excellent color accuracy? Kandao has a new backward-compatible HDR mode for Obsidian Pro when shooting in Prores422 or H.265 (10-bit or 8-bit). The new mode is called Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) . Here’s a sample.
HLG is better at preserving highlights. In the sample above, you can see that more highlight details are retained in the white T-shirt. Here is the original stitched 12K 360 video file.
The new HLG mode is especially useful for Mac users because the KDRAW super-resolution conversion tool only supports NVidia graphics cards.
I’m trying to find out from Kandao if this new format will be available for Qoocam 8K as well.
