Kandao finally posted a stabilized sample video from the Qoocam 8K (previewed here). It’s actually a reframed hyperlapse video, with amazing detail. Here’s the video:
As with other samples from the Qoocam 8K, the video shows unprecedented level of detail, and excellent bit depth as well. I also love the vibrant yet natural-looking colors, one of the strengths of Kandao cameras. Please note, however that this is a hyperlapse. It may consist of a series of photos, which would result in higher quality than a video.
How about the stabilization? It seems pretty good, although there is noticeable rolling from side to side toward the beginning:
The side to side rolling could be due to several things: it could be imperfect stabilization, an unintentional error in keyframing, or an intentional “creative” camera move.
The video was created as a loop with the same video in reverse. This might mean that Qoocam 8K could have a loop function, similar to the Insta360 One X.
I still don’t have the Qoocam 8K yet, even though Kandao said they originally expected me to receive it by the end of November. If and when I get it, I’ll post a hands-on review. For more info on the Qoocam 8K, check out my resource page.
To me it looks like the rolling effect is intentional. The lights look really good. Haven’t notice any significant highlight clipping.
Thanks Piotr! We’ll find out soon 😀
