Rumor: Nikon Keymission 360 discontinued according to B&H

B&H Photo Video is one of the largest camera retailers online, and today they sent out an email saying that the Nikon Keymission 360 has been discontinued, sparking concern.  Here’s why I wouldn’t worry.

UPDATE: as suspected, the email proved wrong.  The Keymission 360 was announced todayIndeed, you can order it from B&H.

The Nikon Keymission 360 is a fully spherical 360 camera that is waterproof and shockproof, and has 4k video resolution.  It’s been highly anticipated since it was announced in January, and even when it was delayed to October.

Many people (including myself) signed up at B&H to be notified when the Keymission 360 would be in stock.  Today, we got an email from B&H saying the Keymission 360 has been discontinued.  Moreover, the Keymission 360 is no longer showing in their inventory list.

I honestly wouldn’t worry.  As recently as September 15, Nikon reconfirmed that the Keymission 360 would be shown at Photokina.  In fact, Nikon has asked National Geographic photographers Ami Vitale and Martin Edstrom to talk about the Keymission 360 at Photokina,  Ami will be presenting the Keymission 360 at PhotoPlus as well.  I doubt that Nikon would change its mind so suddenly and discontinue the Keymission 360.

In any case, Nikon’s press event for Photokina is tomorrow.  We’ll likely find out more about the Keymission 360 very soon.
