Here are some updates on the Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere 360 camera.
Xiaomi engineer Jason Wang showed a prototype of an upcoming accessory for the Mi Sphere. The selfie stick has a shutter button that allows it to trigger the Mi Sphere through the metal contacts at the bottom of the camera. The selfie stick’s mount appears to be slim enough to stay within the stitch line and thus appear invisible to the Mi Sphere. It seems to have a durable shaft as found in some of the newer selfie sticks.
Meanwhile, Jason also mentioned that there would be an app update in the coming two weeks, first for iOS, then for Android.
Jason also said that the long-awaited desktop app is being tested and is expected to be released in the second week of July.
In my review, I found that the affordable Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere camera had the highest image quality for photos and videos, for 360 cameras up to $700 as of June 2017. The Xiaomi camera is on sale at GearBest at the time of this writing.
Thanks Mic ,
Any news on an intervalometer?
Or I would settle for a Bluetooth remote so I could trigger a new photo every few seconds. Does the selfie stick have that?
Hi Adam. I havent heard anything re intervalometer. The selfie stick has a built in shutter but i will test whether you can use a bluetooth remote. i seem to recall yes, but i forgot. and if i forget to reply pls follow up w me on facebook.com/360rumors…
you can take a small electronics which activates a switch every few seconds. this switch or relay only has to short the two gold plated pins on the base of the camera. when you short them and the cam is on it is like a trigger.
see my video on http://www.scheisser.net
very interesting!
Thanks ! Excellent tip! I was just googling how “selfie stick trigger” to do it and came across your comment, and have not noticed the pins myself 🙂
