Yuqing Guo, 2018 EPSON Panoaward VR/360 silver winner, revealed his secrets for shooting with higher quality 360 photos.
Here is a video showcasing Yuqing’s photos, shot with the Kandao Qoocam, a camera that wouldn’t immediately jump out as an obvious choice for 360 photos due to its lower photo resolution. However, as Yuqing explained, the Qoocam has unique strengths:
Besides Yuqing’s skill and experience as a talented 360 photographer, one of the secrets to the amazing quality from Yuqing’s photos is the Qoocam’s exclusive DNG8 mode. The Qoocam is the only consumer 360 camera that can shoot a burst of eight DNG photos and with the Kandao Raw+ software, the eight photos are merged to create a very high quality 360 photo with higher dynamic range and signal-to-noise ratio.
To further increase the photo quality, Yuqing takes DNG8 sets at different exposures to ensure that the entire dynamic range is captured. Yuqing then fuses the photos using Photoshop or HDR software.
In the future, Kandao will add a new feature called Smart Burst, which captures Raw photos shot at different exposures, similar to HDR.
