Insta360 had a very large presence at CES 2019 — one of the largest booths, if not the largest, in the VR area. Here are highlights from their CES 2019 exhibit:
1. Live stability comparison between Insta360 One X and GoPro Hero 7
Insta360 invited visitors to try a stabilization comparison test. They placed the Insta360 One X (reviewed here) and GoPro Hero 7 on a bracket like the handlebars on a bike. The bracket could be turned in any direction (pitch, yaw, roll). Each camera was then linked to monitors to show a live view. Viewers were then invited to move or shake the bracket. The demo showed how much better the One X stabilization is compared to the Hero 7.
2. Trade in any action camera for free Insta360 One X
Right beside the stability comparison was a large blue recycling bin. Insta360 was inviting anyone to trade in any action camera (GoPro or otherwise) for an Insta360 One X. Not surprisingly, many people took advantage of the offer. And every time someone did, Insta360 would announce it over a speaker. Before the end of the day, the recycling bin was full.
3. New drifter accessory for Insta360 One X
Insta360 showed the final design for the drifter accessory. The drifter is used for drift shots with the Insta360 One X. Whereas the prototype was made of a dense plastic, the final drifter case will be made of a flexible rubber material and will have a tripod hole in the bottom.
4. More information about the Titan
5. Updated CrystalView.
Insta360 also showed the updated CrystalView which looks much better now than when it was first released. I will try it out with videos from the Insta360 Pro and Pro 2!
