Insta360 One X (reviewed here) has been discontinued since the release of the Insta360 One X2 and is sold out at almost all places, but it is still available to purchase at normal prices and even has one new feature that isn’t available for One R or One X2.
Insta360 One X is arguably one of the most popular 360 cameras ever sold. Although it has since been replaced by the Insta360 One X2, there are still some who want it for compatibility with 3rd party software such as Matterport.
The good news is that you can still buy the Insta360 One X as of mid-November 2020, brand new and at normal prices, direct from Insta360. It’s called the Enterprise Edition and has a slightly different Enterprise Firmware that Insta360 says has in-camera stitching, which is not available on the regular Insta360 One X, or even the One R or One X2.
I’ve requested Insta360 to provide samples of the Enterprise Edition’s in-camera stitching. Meanwhile, in my opinion, One X2 has so many improvements over One X that unless you really need compatibility with third party apps right now (or you really want the in-camera stitching), I would instead recommend getting the X2, which costs only slightly more at $429.
Out of curiosity, do you know if there is a firmware upgrade for the One X to give it that in camera stitching?
I will try to find out!
