How to watch the US Presidential Debate in VR

You can watch tonight’s Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in virtual reality (not just 360 video).  Here’s how to watch.
The election this year was the first one with 360 videos of debates and national conventions (RNC and DNC).  Now, for the first time, the Presidential debate will also be shown in virtual reality.  Not only will you have a 360 view, but you’ll also be able to move around as you watch the debate with other people in VR.  To make this possible, NBC teamed up with AltspaceVR, a social VR platform, to create a “Virtual Democracy Plaza,” which will have VR avatars of Trump and Clinton

EDIT: in the actual debate, there are no VR avatars of Trump and Clinton.  Just a giant virtual screen.

You can watch the debate in VR with an Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Samsung Gear VR, or a PC.  On the Rift, Vive and Gear VR, you’ll have an immersive VR view.  On a PC, the view will be 2D (similar to watching a 2D 360 video).  Whichever platform you use, you’ll need to download AltspaceVR then head to the Virtual Democracy Plaza.  The debate will be from 6pm – 7:30pm Pacific Time.
The second debate between VP candidates Kaine and Pence will also be shown in VR, as will the third debate between the Presidential candidates.
