Insta360 live streamed the NFL Pro Bowl game in 8K 360 using its new Insta360 8K Live software, in cooperation with ESPN, Verizon, Radiant Images, and Flight School Studio.  Here’s how they did it.

Insta360 developed a new live streaming software that can stitch videos from the Insta360 Pro 2 or Insta360 Titan in realtime at up to 120mbps.   ESPN used the 8K Live software and two Insta360 Pro 2 cameras to live stream the NFL Pro Bowl to a dome theater over a 5G connection.  The system can also be used for high resolution reframed non-360 video, which can be inserted in a traditional broadcast.

Here’s a video that shows how the live stream was made:

With the reframing capability, studios will be able to use the system to show multiple angles, such as for live interviews, or camera movements.  To learn more, check out Insta360’s page.
